2nd International School on the Characterization of Organic Residues in
Archaeological Materials
Siena (Italy), June 14-18, 2010
Identification and characterization of organic residues in archaeological
materials, such as ceramics, is a fascinating field of modern archaeology
and archaeometry. These residues allow to obtain information on the
original content of the materials, on their function and use. They can
also give information on dietary and customs of people who used them.
Actually several chemical methodologies can be used for the
characterization of organic materials.
The 2nd ISCORAM school continues the series of the previous edition held
in Grosseto (Italy).
The school is aimed at giving the background and the state-of-the-art on
the characterization of organic residues in archaeological materials.
Different approaches, such as gas chromatography, mass spectrometry and
spot tests will be presented together with a lot of examples of their
applications in archaeology. Laboratory practice will have an important
role in the school. Lecturers are qualified scientists worldwide.
